When you complete the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) B1.1 Stream you become eligible for a licence issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India.
The licence is officially called B1.1 licence part of the mechanical-stream Category B1 under AME.
With this B1.1 licence, you are allowed to inspect maintain repair and certify turbine engine (jet) aeroplanes. That means you can ensure jet aircraft are safe and airworthy after maintenance.
Once you hold a DGCA approved B1.1 licence, you can work as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Your responsibilities may include:
Line maintenance (routine checks and maintenance between flights)
Base/heavy maintenance (overhauls deep inspections engine and structural repairs)
Powerplant / engine specialist work (turbine engines)
Certifying that aircraft are fit for flight issuing "release to service" certificates after maintenance.
Because the licence is recognised under DGCA you can work with civil airlines MRO (Maintenance Repair Overhaul) organizations aircraft manufacturers and potentially in international aviation (especially where DGCA / equivalent licence is accepted)
