Once you complete the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) B1.3 Stream, you can step into a range of jobs in the aviation industry. This stream prepares you especially for turbine engine helicopters, so you become qualified to work on helicopters with jet engines.

Main Job Roles

  • Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME): As a licensed AME you inspect maintain repair and certify helicopters. You ensure mechanical systemsengines rotor systems hydraulics and airframes are safe and air worthy before flight.

  • Line Maintenance / Base Maintenance Engineer: You can work with airlines or helicopter operators doing routine or heavy maintenance checking aircraft between flights (line maintenance), or doing scheduled inspections and overhauls (base maintenance).

  • MRO (Maintenance Repair & Overhaul) Organisation Engineer: Many maintenance facilities and MRO companies hire AME-B1.3 professionals to handle repairs periodic maintenance structural inspections and system checks for helicopters.

Other Roles & Specializations

  • Quality Control / Safety Inspector: You can take roles ensuring that maintenance work meets safety and regulatory standards. This includes inspecting parts, certifying repairs, checking documentation, and ensuring compliance.

  • Work in Aircraft Manufacturing or Part-Manufacturing Companies: Some graduates work in firms that build aircraft or aircraft components assembling parts, doing testing, or quality assurance.

  • Technical Support / Maintenance Planning Engineer / Technical Instructor: After gaining experience, you can also work off field planning maintenance schedules giving technical support, or becoming an instructor/trainer for new AME students.

  • Defense & Government Aviation Roles: With the right license and sometimes additional requirements, AME B1.3 holders can join defence aviation, government aviation agencies, or other public-sector aviation jobs where helicopter maintenance is needed.
