The Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication, hereafter referred to as BJMC, is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program studied for three years. It is targeted towards people wishing to have careers in journalism, the media, and other forms of communication. The degree encompasses various branches of journalism such as print, online, and broadcasting, public relations, advertising, and even corporate communications. Some of the skills and subjects students master in the degree includes news reporting, content writing, media ethics, photography, video production, and editing. Moreover, the study program involves media research, social investigation, and the role of media in society.
BJMC graduates can pursue careers in news agencies, television channels, radio, digital media, and corporate communication. They could serve as journalists, news anchors, editors, public relations officers, content makers, and social media managers. The need for skilled media practitioners has increased due to the expansion of digital media, and so, there is an enhancement in demand for media professionals throughout the industry. The program fosters students’ analytical, creative, technical and coping skills needed in the constantly changing media environment. Some member colleges do provide internship referrals to corporations for practical training.
