Depending on the course, the institution varies. Most undergraduates need to have at least 50 to 60 in the 12th grade from the universities; however, cut-offs are considerably higher for the courses BBA FIA, BSc LLB, and BSc Hospitality Management, respectively, ranging between 70 and 90 percent. Some institutes also conduct an entrance exam whereby passing the cutoff percentage is merely one criterion among many for entry. Private universities may have lenient requirements, while government institutions are usually very strict with their cutoffs based on merit.
Apart from that, there are some universities which relax percentage criteria based on categories, sports quotas, and extracurricular achievements for a few candidates. In a few cases, the admissions can be merit-cum-entrance-based as well, whereby lower percentage would be accepted due to high scores in the entrance exams. Anyway, it would always be prudent to refer to the official guidelines for admission into a particular university or college so that you might fit into their eligibility criteria.
