Of course, the research and development work is being done at the Aeronautical Training Institute, Lucknow. Started in 1992, ATI has a diploma program in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering with specialization in Avionics and Helicopter and Power Plant Engineering. The institution is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and is affiliated to the Board of Technical Education, Uttar Pradesh.
Besides holding a strong range of teaching activities, ATI is also well known for its research and development work. The Institute focuses on activities which are non scholarly in nature, as is clear from the institute's architecture, range of activities, and other partnerships with foreign countries.
