Yes, practical training is a part of the Aeronautical Engineering course in Assam. Practical training is included by most universities and colleges offering the course in the form of laboratory sessions, workshops, and internships to expose students to practical experience. Practical training includes aerodynamics, propulsion, aircraft structures, avionics, and flight mechanics. Students are exposed to wind tunnel testing, computational modeling, and aircraft component design, which provide them with a better understanding of theoretical concepts in a more practical sense. Institutions can also partner with aviation firms, maintenance organizations, and research centers to provide industrial training.
Aside from in-campus practice sessions, the students usually take internships or industrial visits in aviation-based organisations like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), or maintenance repair centres (MROs). By doing this, the students learn hands-on training in aircraft maintenance, manufacturing cycles, and quality checks. With this training, they improve technically and get industry-ready to go into aerospace firms, defence services, or research institutions.
