The undergraduate law program known as LLB Bachelor of Laws enables students to begin their legal careers after completing the curriculum. India and UK along with Australia accept the undergraduate LLB degree as the essential qualification for aspiring lawyer advocates or legal consultants. Students in India who enroll in an LLB program must complete a three-year course whereas students in other countries (such as India) who enroll directly after high school must study for five years through a combined program of BA LLB, BBA LLB or BSc LLB. The academic curriculum of law studies includes study of constitutional law together with criminal law and contract law and legal ethics.
The completion of LLB requirements enables students to join bar councils while also giving them the potential to study an LLM program. The completion of LLB studies leads to employment possibilities across corporate law and judiciary roles as well as public policy and academic fields. The United States stands as one of several nations which does not offer an LLB program at this level requiring undergraduate students to pursue a Juris Doctor (JD) after completing their bachelor's studies.
