The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) program is not taught through distance learning since it is a very practice-oriented and skill-based program with hands-on training. The physiotherapy students need to go through intense clinical exposure in terms of acquiring therapeutic exercises, manual therapy procedures, and methods of rehabilitation under professional guidance. Such a scenario doesn't allow us to run the program effectively using online or correspondence modes. The regulatory agencies, including the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP) and University Grants Commission (UGC), require that physiotherapy education be carried out in regular, full-time mode to develop competency and professional standards.
Hospital internships, patient contact, and practical exams are part of BPT programs, which cannot be replaced by virtual learning. Distance education does not have the infrastructure to impart necessary lab work and actual patient care experiences. If one is seeking flexible study, hybrid learning with minimal online theoretical content may be offered in some schools, but a fully online or distance BPT course is not accepted. For proper training and licensure, students need to take a regular, accredited program.
