Ques: how to become a pilot?

Becoming a pilot is a dream career for many students who wish to fly high and explore the skies. To become a pilot in India students must follow a few important steps after completing their 12th class. The journey may look challenging but with the right training hard work and guidance it can lead to a rewarding aviation career.

Educational Qualification

The first step to becoming a pilot is completing Class 12th with Physics and Mathematics. Students from a recognized board with these subjects are eligible to apply for pilot training courses. Those who studied commerce or arts can also appear for an open exam in Physics and Math from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).

Choose the Right Pilot Training Institute

After completing 12th students must join a DGCA approved pilot training institute. The training includes ground school (for theoretical subjects like air regulations meteorology and navigation) and flying training to gain hands on experience.

Medical Fitness

A Class 1 medical certificate is required to ensure the student is physically fit for flying duties. The medical exam is conducted by DGCA approved doctors.

Get a Student Pilot License (SPL)

Before starting flight training every student must apply for an SPL, which allows them to fly under supervision.

Earn a Private Pilot License (PPL) and Commercial Pilot License (CPL)

Once training starts students first earn a Private Pilot License (PPL) and then progress to the Commercial Pilot License (CPL). The CPL allows you to work as a professional pilot with airlines.

Apply for Airline Jobs

After completing CPL students can apply to major airlines become flight instructors or even train to be a pilot in the Air Force. Becoming a pilot requires focus discipline and passion but the reward of flying in the sky makes every effort worth it.
