The MSc in Mathematics is usually a postgraduate course taken for 1 to 2 years depending on whether it is part time or full time and differs from institution to institution in terms of how it is structured. Usually, one year is needed for a full time program while for part time it could reach two years.
This plan aims at enhancing students understanding of certain advanced mathematical concepts, techniques, and theories. Students participate in a mix of core courses, electives and research. In the case of mathematics, students may focus in areas like pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, or mathematical modeling. Many MSc programs in Mathematics require a dissertation or thesis in the last year. Furthermore, some students may be able to complete the training part of the qualification on other programs offered by the University.
