The Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia and Mass Communication (BAMMC) is an undergraduate degree that is open to students from all streams of study, namely Science, Commerce, and Arts. In contrast to some specialized courses that need specific subject backgrounds, BAMMC deals with media studies, journalism, advertising, and communication, and thus is open to students from different educational backgrounds. But the candidates need to meet the minimum eligibility requirements of their respective colleges or universities, usually a percentage in their 12th-grade exams. Some colleges may also have entrance tests or interviews as part of the selection process.
As BAMMC lays emphasis mainly on communication skills, content creation, and media management, students of any stream can do well by acquiring creativity, critical thinking, and analytical abilities. Students in Arts might make the transition simpler because of prior exposure to courses in humanities subjects, whereas Commerce and Science students contribute analytical thinking and business background. The design of the courses involves practical experience, internships, and company exposure so that students from diversified academic backgrounds find it easy to adjust and cope with the highly dynamic nature of mass communication.
