During a BSc Visual Communication (VisCom) program, students have the opportunity to focus on a selected area of interest for their career. Most universities will have elective or concentration courses on graphic design, animation, photography, filmmaking, advertising, UI/UX design, or digital media. This enables students to get extensive training and experience in their selected field as they prepare for specific roles within the media and creative industry.
The option to specialize allows students to enhance their portfolio and obtain desirable skills within an industry. For example, animation students can specialize in 2D or 3D animation while advanced photography students will study the art of capturing high-end images and editing them. Film students will specialize in cinematography, directing, and editing. Specialization increases the employability of students because most employers look for experts in specific regions. Students are encouraged to look up various educational institutions for the programs that they offer to ensure that their preferred areas of specialization are available.
