Ques: Are there entrance exams for MSc IT admissions?

As is customary of any other university, eligibility criteria for admission to MSc IT programs differ across universities. For certain colleges, students take entrance exams like NIMCET for NITs, CUET-PG for central universities, or any internal tests set for specific universities which usually assess the candidate's programming, mathematics and analytical skills. Admission to most private universities, however, seems to be a bit relaxed where students with an undergraduate degree in BSc IT, BCA, and BSc Computer Science are accepted based on their departmental GPAs. The minimum percentage for admission is set at 50 to 60% and is considered reasonable.

Students of the above mentioned fields preparing for entrance exams centers their focus around information networking, computer programming, data structures, database management systems, and logic. Selection processes differ with some universities as they include an interview round and other may include a group discussion round. If direct higher education is what you are looking to obtain, having a preferred institute setting will require comprehensive preparation for those entrance exams. Merit based systems are also preferable as it is always a good idea to check what other universities permit students to enter only on the basis of marks. Make sure to verify what the preferred institutions look for before making a decision.
