Ques: Are there any language proficiency requirements for MSc Chemistry programs?

Whether a student is pursuing an MSc Chemistry from a specific country’s university, that university’s particular language proficiency requirements differ. A standardized test is usually required for places like the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. The requirements for students’ international English skills are on the lower end for IELTS with scores ranging from 6.5-7.0 and on the higher end for TOEFL where students need 80 to 100. There are universities that accept Pilipino English test (PTE) or Duolingo, and there are those who attended an English speaking previous school who can bypass this requirement, too.

Universities located in other countries wherein the primary spoken language is not English may still consider accepting students who can prove their English proficiency, however, if the course is conducted in English, there must also be a corresponding evidence of proficiency in the language (i.e. German, French). Other degrees like TestDaF for Germany may also be accepted. To verify if the proficiency criteria set by the university, don’t forget to check their official pages first. This is really necessary to knowing if the applicant can efficiently participate in class engagements as well as in research collaborations during the MSc Chemistry course.
