The Aeronautical Engineering curriculum at PSAEC (Parisutham Institute of Technology and Science - Aeronautical Engineering College, Thanjavur) aims to equip students with fundamental aerospace sciences, engineering, and practical skills. The program includes the primary subjects of Aerodynamics, Aircraft Structures, Propulsion, Flight Mechanics, Avionics, as well as Aircraft Materials & Manufacturing Technology. Students learn about fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural analysis, and other foundational concepts needed for the design and operation of an aircraft. CFD, FEA, and advanced composites are also learned. Other subjects such as Engineering Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Programming are also taught to enhance the student’s analytical and problem-solving capacity for an aeronautical engineer.
Aside from the main areas of study, the program focuses on aircraft maintenance, aviation safety, and aerospace vehicle design. Students are trained in systems, navigation, and control engineering to ensure they appreciate the integration of various parts in the operation of aircraft. The educational experience entails theoretical instruction, laboratory exercises, and other internships that expose students to real world situations. With courses like Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Rocket Propulsion, and Space Technology, students are familiarized with the emerging fields of aerospace engineering.
