Ques: What is the eligibility for LLB?

Eligibility for LLB normally requires candidates to have completed their undergraduate education. This means that they must hold a bachelor's degree, generally 10+2+3 education structure. The degree could be in any discipline, be it arts, science, or commerce, and must be awarded by a recognized university. Most institutions require a minimum percentage of around 45-50% in the bachelor's degree. However, the percentage may vary with the university and category of the candidate. For instance, whereas some universities have reserved quotas for SC/ST students, the percentage requirement may be low.

Apart from the requisite educational qualifications, many law schools and universities require candidates to appear for an entrance examination, such as CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) or LSAT (Law School Admission Test), to get admission into their LLB programs. Few universities conduct their own entrance exams. The selected candidate who fulfills the eligibility and does well on the entrance examination will be carried forward to a round of interview or counseling process. The normal LLB degrees last three years for graduate intakes or five years for entrance immediately after graduation from high school (integrated courses).
