The BLS LLB program usually takes five years to complete, with two separate phases: the Bachelor of Legal Studies (BLS) and the Bachelor of Laws (LLB). The first part of the course is about the study of foundational legal subjects such as contract law, constitutional law, and legal theory. Students are also introduced to various aspects of law and its application in society.
The second half contains a specialization within the law school leading students on towards practicing specialized legal fields- Criminal, civil and corporate practice, which combines theory and an experiential knowledge in various moot courts or practical experience learning environments. Being the BLS-LLB student allows attaining a great mix of legal theories and pragmatic skill acquisition relevant for practice purposes. The duration is usually five years, but it can vary with the institution and the specific program. Upon graduation, students are awarded the dual degrees of BLS and LLB, which are a good basis for a career in law, legal research, or further academic pursuits in the field.
