Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME DGCA) + CPL (Ground Classes)

Approved by DGCA, Govt of India

The integrated Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) DGCA + CPL (Ground Classes) course at FIAME combines two key aviation qualifications. This program includes the regular AME DGCA curriculum and prepares students for the CPL Ground Classes. To earn a CPL (Commercial Pilot License), candidates must pass two medical tests, six module exams, and complete 200 flying hours.

In this course, we cover the medical tests and module exams. Once you finish these parts, you'll have an AME license and be ready for the CPL flying hours. After completing the required 200 flying hours, you can obtain your CPL anytime in the future.

The benefits of this course are clear: you get dual qualifications – an AME license and the completed ground requirements for a CPL. This dual advantage saves time and prepares you for a comprehensive aviation career, allowing you to become both an aircraft maintenance engineer and a commercial pilot.

Ask & Answer

What is an AME according to DGCA?
AME stands for Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is a professional responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft through inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities in accordance with DGCA regulations.
AME focuses on practical aircraft maintenance skills, while B.Tech in AME combines engineering principles with maintenance training. AME primarily emphasizes hands-on training in aircraft maintenance tasks, whereas B.Tech in AME integrates engineering concepts with maintenance practices, offering a broader academic perspective
It's possible to pursue both concurrently, but it requires careful planning and dedication. While it's feasible to pursue AME (DGCA) training alongside a B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering, it requires careful scheduling and time management due to the rigorous nature of both programs. Some institutions may offer integrated programs to streamline the process.
B.Tech Aerospace Engineering is an undergraduate program that delves into the comprehensive study of aircraft and spacecraft design, development, testing, and maintenance. It covers various aspects of aerodynamics, propulsion systems, materials science, avionics, and space technology. Students gain practical skills through laboratory work, projects, and internships, preparing them for careers in the aerospace industry, research institutions, and governmental organizations involved in aviation and space exploration.
Requirements include completion of approved training, passing DGCA exams, and gaining practical experience. To become an AME certified by DGCA, one must complete approved training from a DGCA-approved institute, pass the required DGCA exams, and gain practical experience working on aircraft under the supervision of licensed engineers.
DGCA certification ensures compliance with aviation safety standards and enhances employability in the aviation industry. DGCA certification validates the competency of AME professionals in adhering to regulatory requirements and safety standards set by the aviation authority, thus increasing their credibility and career opportunities within the industry..
Scholarships and financial aid options may be available through government schemes, institutions, and private organizations.Yes, scholarships and financial aid programs are often available for AME (DGCA) and B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering students. These may be offered by government bodies, educational institutions, industry associations, or private organizations to support talented and deserving candidates.
To pursue B.Tech Aerospace Engineering, candidates generally need to have completed their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. Many universities and engineering colleges offering this program conduct entrance exams to assess the candidates' aptitude and knowledge in relevant subjects. Additionally, some institutes may have specific eligibility criteria regarding minimum marks or rank in these entrance exams, along with other requirements such as age limits or domicile criteria.
An AME's scope includes maintenance, repair, inspection, and overhaul of aircraft and aircraft components. The scope of work for an AME certified by DGCA involves a wide range of activities, including routine maintenance, inspections, repairs, and overhauls of aircraft and aircraft components to ensure their safe operation and compliance with regulatory standards.
AME (DGCA) focuses on aircraft maintenance and certification, while B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering covers a broader range of topics including design, manufacturing, and operations. AME (DGCA) primarily focuses on aircraft maintenance, repair, and certification procedures regulated by DGCA, leading to careers as licensed aircraft maintenance engineers. B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering encompasses a wider spectrum of topics including aircraft design, manufacturing, operations, and research, offering diverse career opportunities in aerospace industries.
