"Wings India 2024 is a big airplane event organized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and FICCI. It's going to be the biggest event in Asia all about airplanes that people use for travel, fun, and business. There will be many types of airplanes on display, like the ones we see at airports and some for business purposes. It's going to be a really big and exciting event!"
On May 18, a special event happened in New Delhi to kickstart the upcoming Wings India 2024. Jyotiraditya Scindia, who is part of the government, revealed the event and showed a video that gives a sneak peek of what's coming. He also introduced a booklet about Wings India 2024. The main event is planned to be held from January 18 to 21, 2024, in Hyderabad.
Strong economic growth is a major factor
India's robust economic growth has led to an increase in disposable income and a growing middle class. This has resulted in higher air travel demand as more people can afford to fly for business and leisure purposes.
The country is witnessing increasing urbanisation, and it is expected to increase from 34.9% in 2020 to a projected 40% in 2030.
The airplane business in India has grown a lot lately and is still getting bigger really fast. The Union Minister talked about how they made this happen. He said, "The government used three important plans: making more room for planes to land, fixing things that were slowing them down, and making the steps easier. Because of these plans, we went from having 74 airports to having 148 airports in just nine years."
The Minister further informed that the number of airports, heliports, and waterdromes will go up to more than 200 in the next three to four years.
