Malaysia airlines is in the midst of an expansion effort aimed at broadening its presence in India. As part of this strategic initiative, the airline is actively preparing to introduce three new routes that will connect various Indian cities with Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. This expansion underscores Malaysia Airlines' commitment to enhancing its connectivity and reach in the Indian market, demonstrating its dedication to serving travelers between India and Malaysia.

These flights will take off from Kuala Lumpur and fly to Amritsar, Thiruvananthapuram and Ahmedabad. Services are expected to begin on November 8, November 9 and December 1 respectively.

The airline is introducing new routes to Amritsar and Thiruvananthapuram, each with a twice-weekly schedule, while the Ahmedabad route will be operational four times a week, according to Aviation Week. Presently, Malaysia Airlines runs six direct flights to India, serving cities like New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kochi. Regarding this expansion initiative, Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, the Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), emphasized that it aims to offer increased travel flexibility and a wider array of choices for passengers traveling between the two countries, as reported by The Star.

Speaking to the media at a press conference, he added, “The three new routes into our Indian network will provide added convenience for travellers, strengthen our presence in this core market and extend our Malaysian Hospitality service even further.”

The new routes will use the boeing 737-800NG aircraft, which has a total of 160 seats — 144 Economy and 16 Business Class seats. Additionally, to celebrate the launch of these new routes, the airline is offering introductory fares with return tickets starting from RM 999 (INR 17,752) for Economy Class and RM 2,999 (INR 53,289) for Business Class. Travellers booking within this period will also be able to get up to 50 percent Bonus Enrich Points, the report adds.
