Akasa Air, India's emerging airline set to venture into international services, aims to onboard around 800 new employees by the close of this fiscal year, as outlined by Chief Executive Officer Vinay Dube.

The young low-cost carrier, which initiated flight operations in 2022, is contemplating an expansion of its routes to encompass the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and other key locations within South Asia. These prospective destinations encompass Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

Notably, Akasa isn't alone in its drive to enhance its workforce. Leading players like indigo and Air India Ltd. are also in the midst of unprecedented aircraft procurement, with sizable orders from industry giants airbus SE and boeing Co.

Thriving in India's fiercely competitive aviation sector, which has witnessed the downfall of several airlines, Akasa – a moniker meaning "sky" – currently employs approximately 3,000 individuals and commands a 4.9% market share.

In a forthcoming announcement anticipated before the year's conclusion, CEO Dube is finalizing a substantial order for narrowbody jets, estimated to encompass a triple-digit count of aircraft. Just last month, Akasa solidified its commitment with an additional acquisition of four Boeing 737-8 aircraft, adding to its existing tally of 76 orders awaiting delivery by March 2027.

The rapid expansion of airlines, the growth of international routes, and advancements in aviation technology are all contributing factors.
