Air India made significant strides in its ongoing five-year transformation plan, Vihaan.AI, by hiring more than 5,700 employees during the financial year ending March 31. This recruitment drive included over 3,800 flying crew members, alongside 1,950 non-flying staff, as the airline pushes to revive its fortunes.
As part of its expansion strategy, Air India launched 16 new routes, including 11 international destinations, in the last fiscal year. Additionally, the carrier bolstered its fleet with the induction of four A320neos, 14 A321neos, eight Boeing 777s, and three Airbus A350s.
In an internal communication, CEO Campbell Wilson highlighted the airline's progress during the "take-off" phase of the Vihaan.AI plan. On April 1, the airline successfully transitioned to a new Revenue Accounting System, marking another milestone in its ongoing transformation. The finance and HR teams are now busy compiling the latest financial figures and other key data from the past year.
