Step 3: Gain Experience and Certifications

During or after college, it’s important to gain practical experience. This can include:

  • Internships at aerospace companies or airlines
  • Flight training at an accredited flying school if youre pursuing a pilot’s license
  • Co-op programs where you alternate between school and working in the field

Pilots, in particular, must complete flight hours and pass strict tests to get licensed. Engineers may need additional certifications, especially if working on government or defense projects.

Step 4: Launch Your Career

With your education and experience in place, it’s time to apply for jobs. Aerospace offers a wide range of opportunities:

  • Pilots for commercial airlines, private charters, or cargo companies
